Autumn

Autumn is my favorite season!  F. Scott Fitzgerald said, "Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall."  And, I believe it!  While welcoming fall, instead of seeing life through rose colored glasses, I tend to see life through a calm autumny, orange-ish hue.  To me, life gets lighter and less serious in the fall.  A time to look forward to cooler weather, the light-heartedness of Halloween, and the anticipation of the Holidays.

Life seems to take on a very different meaning from summer - the leaves crunching under your feet, windows open with a cool breeze floating in through the air, the warmth of a sweater in the evenings.  Instead of craving something cold like a beer or a glass of Rose, my senses crave something earthy, rich and velvety like a Pinot Noir.  Something about that glass of red wine comforts my soul.

For as long as I can remember, fall is synonymous with a fresh start.  I am a fall baby, born in September, so every fall I literally begin a new chapter in my life story.  I appreciate the changing season of fall, the subtle changes in the weather leading to winter.  I adore the changes in fashion - my closet busting with soft wool, leather and faux fur.  And while not a football fan myself, I love the sound of a game on in the background while cooking Sunday dinners.  It's a memory that takes me back to my childhood - hearing my Dad watching the Dallas Cowboys play on a Sunday afternoon after church.

My home is my sanctuary and I take great care in loving all the things around me!  And so, this time of year - it's fun to add the colors of fall to my surroundings.  We'll enjoy this temporary decor before busting out the reds and greens and gold and sparkling lights of the Holidays.

It's always fun trying the new libation of the season.  And this year, I can't seem to go anywhere without seeing or hearing about Not Your Father's Root Beer.  Initially, I wondered what the fuss was all about - a root beer is a root beer, right?  But, no!  Seriously - it's worth it to take a moment to savor this Dark Ale flavored with notes of vanilla and spice.  This grown up version of a root beer is definitely unique and awesome for a cool fall night.  Happy Fall, Y'all!
